GarageGames has announced the release of Torque Game Engine Advanced (TGEA) 1.8, a new version of its development tool for game programmers, now available for Mac OS X. A free update for registered licensees, TGEA 1.8 is available starting at $295.
TGEA incorporates networking, shaders and design tools used to create 3D games. It can be used to dynamically build terrain, manage lighting and shading, handle model animation, scripting, publish to multiple platforms and more. GarageGames also includes the engine’s source code, if you need to tweak it for your own use.
New to the 1.8 release is an OpenGL implementation for the TGEA’s graphics Application Programming Interface (API) and platform support for Mac OS X. TGEA 1.8 was first published in November as a beta version for current licensees; this marks the 1.8 update’s general release.
