Printer maker Brother is at the Expo, showing off a line of Mac—compatible inkjet and laser printers. The highlights include the new MFC-990CW, a $230 color-inkjet multifunction with print, scan and fax capabilities, a cordless handset, and a 4.2-inch touchscreen LCD for navigating menus. As for connection options, the MFC-990CW features 802.11 Wi-Fi as well as Ethernet, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth.
Brother’s 11-by-17-inch inkjet multifunctions also drew my attention. The top-of-the-line MFC-6490CW is packed with features, like a second paper tray, wifi, Ethernet and USB 2.0 connectivity, tabloid sized scanning bed, tabloid sized automatic document feeder, camera card reader that supports most popular formats, and high-yield ink cartridges. The $300 printer’s specs are impressive, as were the borderless, tabloid-sized photos printed from the unit.
