Microsoft released a public beta of Entourage for Exchange Web Services late Monday, announcing the launch on the Microsoft Mac Business Unit’s Office for Mac blog.
As announced earlier this month, this modification to Entourage allows the program to connect to servers running Exchange 2007 SP1 or later via the Exchange Web Services (EWS) format, rather than WebDAV—a change the company said would bring better compatibility, performance, and reliability. The company said tasks that previously required up to six separate communications via WebDAV can be done via EWS with a single command.
In addition to added speed, the beta also allowes Entourage to sync tasks, notes, and categories with the Exchange server, according to a MacBU employee blog.
