I’ve always been a big fan of the refurb store. Getting Apple gear for cheap(er) with the same factory warranty? I’m so there.
Late last night, Reuters reported that Apple has just launched an online refurb store for China, which “offers discounts of up to 22 percent.” China is clearly a big potential market for Apple, though the two haven’t always had the best of relationships.
As many of you likely recall, China and Apple have scuffled over iTunes issues, but have also worked together to build retail stores in Beijing. And, of course, the iPhone still hasn’t come to Chinese shores, despite long-running negotiations between Apple and the country’s cell phone providers.
According to the report, an iPod shuffle costs about $44, which seems like a pretty good deal to me. Maybe the two can be friends after all? Then again, you probably can buy an awful lot of xiao long bao for that amount.
So, if you’re reading this in China, and you happen to give the new refurb store a whirl, let us know how it works out for you.
