Xnet Communications released a major upgrade for its file transfer protocol application, Captain FTP, this week. The update adds many new features and fixes some bugs affecting Leopard users.
Among the additions to Captain FTP 6 are synchronization scheduling, support for Amazon’s S3 backup and storage service, editing remote documents through WebDav, the ability to add an entry from Quick Connect to Address Book, offline browsing, and Address Book search, among other changes.
A bug that caused a crash in Leopard when browsing a server has been fixed. Another bug when adding entries in Address Book and a 100% of processor usage bug were also fixed.
FTP applications are typically used as a way for users to access direct downloads from a server.
Captain FTP is available for download from the company’s Web site and costs $29.
