The Iconfactory on Thursday announced the release of Twitterific 3.2, an update to its Twitter client for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, Twitterific is available in ad-sponsored (free) and registered ($14.95) versions.
Twitterific enables Mac users to send and receive “Tweets” from the popular social networking service Twitter, in which users communicate using text entries of 140 or fewer characters. The application gives users an alternative to the Web-based Twitter interface.
New to the 3.2 release is the ability to mark old tweets as read when you first launch the app. A rate limit check has been added at startup, and HTTP authentication reliability has been improved for accessing Twitter through a proxy. All communications with Twitter are now encrypted using the HTTPS protocol. Up to 200 tweets will be read into your timeline, and reply IDs have been added to posted messages. A menu is now available on the Dock icon. A number of bug fixes have been made, as well.
System requirements call for OS X 10.4 later and a Twitter account.
