Epson has introduced the Perfection V600 Photo in the United States, billed as an energy-efficient scanner for photographers.
With 6400 dpi optical resolution, 48-bit depth, and 3.4 Dmax optical density for film scanning, the Perfection V600 Photo promises low power consumption for maximum efficiency and no warm-up time for instant scanning. The scanner uses a white light-emitting diode as the light source, and a 12-line Epson Matrix CCD as the photoelectric drive.
The Perfection V600 Photo features a built-in transparency unit that supports full panoramic medium format film. Users have the ability to create digital archives from photos, 35 mm filmstrips, mounted slides and medium format full panoramic film (6 by 22 cm), ideal for preserving important memories and images, as well as photographic reproduction for printing according to Epson.
The Epson Scan software has been upgraded and now supports and Snow Leopard the company said. The scanner also includes Epson’s Digital Ice technology, which helps fix tears, creases, and dust marks on original photos.
The Perfection V600 Photo is priced at $249, and will be available in October. Epson includes a one-year limited warranty and phone access to a toll-free animated help line.
