Red Sweater Software on Tuesday announced the release of MarsEdit 2.3, a new version of their blogging software for Mac OS X. A free update for registered users, MarsEdit costs $30. A 30-day trial is available.
MarsEdit enables you to blog from your Mac, rather than depending on the Web-based interfaces present in most Internet blogging systems. This allows you to prepare blog posts offline using a streamlined desktop application running natively in Mac OS X.
The software features broad support for commonly used blogging systems including WordPress, Blogger, TypePad, Movable Type, LiveJournal, Drupal and Vox. You can preview what you’re posting, integrate photos using Flickr, re-blog content you’ve found on the Web and more.
The new 2.3 version adds support for the Tumblr microblogging service. Also new in this release is an overhauled media manager that opens much faster when using lots of photos. Technorati tags editing has been revised, and MarsEdit 2.3 sports improved weblog Favicon detection.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
