Ambrosia Software on Tuesday announced the release of WireTap Studio 1.0.9, an update to its audio recording software. A free update for registered users, WireTap Studio costs $69.
WireTap Studio lets you record audio from a microphone (internal or external) or from any audio app running on your Mac. It also lets you edit that audio “losslessly.” You can preview different bit rates and audio compression schemes without making any changes to the source material itself — sort of the same way that Aperture and Lightroom work with digital photographs — so you can make whatever changes you want without disrupting the fidelity of the original audio recording.
New in the 1.0.9 release is improved stability when recording using Advanced Audio Codec (AAC). LivePreview performance has been improved thanks to minor fixes during playback, and editor playback issues have been corrected — specifically, the playback needle tracks better, Pause button, “Save As” is more intuitive and file management issues have all been corrected. EQ functionality has been improved as well — an issue where settings were lost during recording has been fixed.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.4 or later.
