More enterprise management support for companywide usage of the iPhone was announced Wednesday by Good Technology.
The product, Good Mobile Control for iPhone, is expected to be available sometime in the second quarter, the company said in a statement. Pricing was not announced, and a company spokeswoman said the price will vary by customer use. The component is part of the company’s Good for Enterprise 6.0 product announced at the International CTIA Wireless show.
IT managers will be able to the use the software to have a comprehensive view of mobile deployments across an entire company, with the ability to look into the individual devices in use, Good said. The devices are shown by mobile operating system, and corporate security and usage policies can be applied through the Good server.
Good said the software makes it possible to provision e-mail over the air to iPhones and other devices, as well as configure Wi-Fi and VPN settings, manage passwords and remotely wipe all data from the device in case of loss or theft.
Despite the popularity of iPhones, “IT departments have been reluctant to embrace [them] because of two issues – security and management,” said Good CEO Brian Bogosian in a statement. Good Mobile Control for iPhone will be a cost effective way to secure, control and manage a broad range of devices including the iPhone, he said.
