Ableton on Thursday released the next generation of its live sequencing applications, Live 8 and Suite 8. In addition to workflow improvements, the software also features some new techniques and effects.
Among the features in Live 8 and Suite 8 are a new groove engine, revampedwarping techniques, live looping, five new effects (including theAbleton Vocoder), crossfades in the Arrangement View, group tracksand a reworked MIDI editor.
Ableton Suite 8 also includes a new sound library; Collision and Corpus, physical-modeling instrument for authentic mallet sounds and creative percussion; Latin percussion; and Ableton’s Operator synth.
Ableton Live 8 is available immediately and costs $549 for the boxed version and $449 for the download. Ableton Suite 8 costs $849 for the boxed version and $699 for the download.
