Active Storage on Wednesday released two new RAID products, expanding on its XRAID product line. The XRAID ES comes in 4TB and 16TB configurations.
The ES line is targeted specifically to the Apple business, science and education markets. The company said the 16TB version works out to a cost of 67 cents per gigabyte.
The ES comes with Mac OS X storage management software, first developed by the company for its XRAID product. The system offers throughput up to 744MBps in a 16 drive RAID 5 configuration.
The XRAID ES comes with redundant power, triple-redundant cooling and redundant Fibre Channel connections.
Active Storage knows a thing or two about the Mac market. The company’s founder, Alex Grossman, was an executive at Apple, responsible for the development of Apple’s server and storage products.
The XRAID ES 4TB costs $6,999 and the 16TB model costs $9,999.
