Like many people, reader S. L. can’t find the cursor on a Mac with multiple displays. The initialed-one writes:
I do a lot of multimedia document creation and have a 24” iMac with a 20” monitor hooked up to the Mini-DVI port. With this much screen real-estate and so many colors on my screens from the projects I find it hard to find my mouse cursor, so I am feverishly move my mouse around to find the cursor. Is there any kind of hotkey that will cause the mouse to blink or glow or zoom or something to help me find it?
There are a couple of things you could try. The first is to simply make the cursor larger. You do this by opening the Universal Access system preference, clicking the Mouse tab, and using the Cursor Size slider to increase the size of the cursor.
Of course, this isn’t a great solution if you don’t want a larger cursor all the time. The other option is 2pointsfish’s free Mouse Locator. Once you install this preference pane you can cause a large green target to appear around the cursor by simply pressing the F6 key (you can assign a different F-key in the Mouse Locator preference within System Preferences).
