NCsoft on Thursday announced the release of Issue 14: Architect, the latest expansion for its long-running online game City of Heroes. The expansion is free for current account holders for City of Heroes.
The new expansion introduces a “Mission Architect” system that, for the first time, enables City of Heroes players to create and share their own custom missions and story arcs. This announcement follows a beta version’s release, which saw 5,000 custom stories developed within two weeks.
The Mission Architect system also lets players rate each other’s story arcs; the highest-rated missions will be displayed, thus earning the players that developed them in-game rewards. The best of them will also be hand-chosen by the game’s developers as “Dev Choice” missions; that rewards the author with an additional slot to create more custom stories.
City of Heroes is rated “T” for Teen by the ESRB.
City of Heroes for Mac requires Mac OS X 10.5.5 or later, Intel Core Duo processor, 1GB RAM, ATI X1600, Nvidia 7300 GT or GMA X3100 or better 3D graphics and 2.9GB hard disk space.
