REAL Software on Tuesday announced the release of REAL Server 2009 Release 1, a new update to their cross-platform database server. REAL Server costs $299 for 5 user/connection license and $599 for an unlimited connection license.
REAL Server was developed to provide developers with a way to create multi-user cross platform database from single user databases. It’s for use with REALbasic 2006 or later. REALbasic is the company’s cross-platform development engine, used for rapid application development and enterprise software development.
REAL Server 2009 Release 1 sports a new scalable architecture that supports over 10,000 concurrent connections from a single database server. It can now use all available CPU cores or share them with other apps, and can use server hardware RAM to improve query speed. Responsiveness has been optimized across supported platforms, restore points have been added that log every operation, a new plug-in architecture has been deployed, SQLite extensions are now supported, full-text searching is supported, and more than 60 new commands have been added.
System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.2.8 or later, 256MB RAM. It’s a Universal binary. It’s also available for Windows and Linux.
