NCsoft on Tuesday announced the development of “ Going Rogue,” a new expansion pack for its massively multiplayer online game City of Heroes. The release date was not announced.
While City of Heroes has been available on the PC for several years, it only recently made its debut on the Mac, thanks to the work of TransGaming. Recently the game went through a minor expansion with the release of Architect, which lets players craft their own missions and storylines.
The “Going Rogue” expansion is billed as the first major expansion for the City of Heroes franchise since 2005’s release of City of Villains. “Going Rogue” purportedly blurs the line between heroes and villains as players can switch roles; villains can visit Paragon City, while heroes can go to the Rogue Isles. Certain marked missions will affect your character’s moral compass, which could eventually change the character’s alignment. New fictional characters are also introduced with this release, including Maelstrom, a pistol-wielding hero gone rogue, and Desdemona, a demon-summoning villain who’s switched sides.
A 14-day trial of City of Heroes is available for download. An Intel-based Mac is required.
