With UDA 4.0, Mac users can gain access to relational data from Mac versions of desktop apps like MS Office, Filemaker, and a variety of application development environments. The software package also provides Mac OS X connectivity to a variety of ODBC-compliant databases, including MS SQLServer, Oracle, Sybase, DB2, Informix, Progress, PostgreSQL, Ingres, and OpenLink Virtuoso. UDA 4.0 also supports a wide range of server operating systems, including Mac OS X, Windows, Solaris, Linux, HP-UX, AIX, IRIX and others.
The OpenLink UDA 4.0 package includes the iODBC Driver Manager, which OpenLink describes as a bridge that enables backwards compatibility between ODBC 2.5 applications and ODBC 3.5 drivers. The manager also has full support for ODBC 3.5 applications developed using alternate software development kits.
OpenLink director of technology evangelism, Andrew Hill, says his company is committed to providing cross-platform data access.
“We are excited to give foundation-level technology back to the Macintosh community,” said Hill.
