So I was on my way to the local farmers’ market here in Oakland with some friends on Sunday morning, when my good friend David Boyk and I were talking about how I’d recently lent him some books. He suggested that I check out Delicious Library to keep track of such things.
While this app has been around for a couple years now, Delicious Monster just released a beta of version 2.1. For the uninitiated, like me, Delicious Library can use your Mac’s built-in iSight as a barcode scanner to search for title, author, publisher information about the books/CDs/DVDs/whatever that are in your in-house physical library. It’s as easy as holding the book up to your camera. Seriously.
I raced home and downloaded the app and was very pleasantly surprised.
Delicious Monster, the company behind Delicious Library, has added Unicode support in searches, and fixed a handful of bugs in the beta version. To top it all off, the company is also working on a companion iPhone application, which is also still in beta.
Man, if only I could find an app that would scan all my books for me automatically, then I’d be set.
Update: Version 2.1 is actually still in beta, but it is available for public download at the link above.
