Parliant has announced the release of PhoneValet Message Center 6, a major new upgrade to its telephony hub software for Mac OS X — and now other operating systems including Linux and Windows. PhoneValet 6 cost $170 per phone line.
PhoneValet enables a Macintosh (or other computer) to announce, answer, transfer and record telephone calls. It lets you manage a searchable call history, provides integrated dialing capabilities and more.
The new version 6 release adds support for a live receptionist, who can transfer calls to any mailbox or call tree. The receptionist can either work from the PhoneValet computer or through the Web using Parliant’s PhoneValet Anywhere.
PhoneValet can now be set up to automatically deliver new messages to users’ cell phones. Users can change greetings remotely, and mailbox privacy has been improved. Network dialing lets users dial from their desktops, and PhoneValet Anywhere users can manage shared phone books and call logs.
PhoneValet requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later and QuickTime 6.5.3 or higher, an available USB port (used to connect the Parliant telephone line adapter), 1024 x 768 display and standard analog telephone line.
