Sirius XM satellite radio is now available to iPhone and iPod touch listeners through a free application now available for download from the App Store.
The app enables you to stream audio from Sirius or XM satellite radio broadcasts onto your iPhone or iPod touch. It requires users to have a “Premium” Sirius Internet Radio or XM Radio Online subscription. The company offers dedicated artist channels, live performances and music covering a wide swath of genres, along with talk radio, sports talk radio, comedy, and entertainment channels.
The software also lets you tag songs you’ve heard for later purchase on the iTunes Store, lets you save your favorite channels for later listening, and see what’s playing on other channels.
One notable exception, according to users who have already downloaded the app, is Howard Stern, the popular “shock jock” who is one of the service’s biggest draws. His shows are absent from the iPhone app.
