Apple’s mobile applications emporium is one-year old and to celebrate the happy event we devote this episode to all-things-App Store. We do so with a roundtable discussion featuring Macworld executive editor Philip Michaels, senior editor Dan Frakes, and associate editor Dan Moren. Topics of discussion include The iPhone’s Distinctive Dozen, our take on some of the year’s apps that best characterize the Store’s offerings; apps we count among our guilty pleasures; and a look at the Store’s past, present, and future.
Prior to that discussion I offer five tips for troubleshooting a friend or family member’s Mac that might just help you stay friends and family members.

Show Notes
In the News & Commentary segment I refer to a few pieces I’ve written about troubleshooting for friends and family. Those pieces include Monday’s A Survivor’s Guide to Family Mac Upgrades, Remotely Fixing the Family Printer, and Trouble-free Mac Tech Support.
When talking about the App Store, Phil, 2x Dans, and I mention a fair smattering of apps. They include:
- iFart Mobile
- Movies
- Now Playing
- i.TV
- Lose It!
- iBart Live
- Tweetie
- Twitterific
- Arcade QB Pass Attack
- Rimshot
- Baseball Slugger: Homerun Race 3D
- iSlots
Phil also mentioned his roundup of portable gridiron games. You can find them in his iPhone Football Games from last February.

And did you catch those one or two subtle mentions of our App Guide? If you find browsing the App Store as occasionally confounding as we do, this is a free resource you should take advantage of.
