Here’s a simple Friday tip for those who follow RSS feeds in Mail (in OS X 10.5). Many sites’ RSS feeds, such as Macworld’s own feed, include author information with the other data fields such as subject, date, and content. In Mail, however, you won’t see this author information.
You can see it, though, with a simple change. Control-click on any of the header columns in the RSS feed, and you’ll see a list of additional available columns. Select Author, and you’ll now be able to see—assuming the feed provides it—author information for your feeds. You can then easily sort by author, with a single click on the Author column heading.
The Author column isn’t available in regular mailboxes (it’s grayed out); it exists solely to support RSS feeds in Mail.
