Facebook has created a new version of its iPhone app that allows users to upload videos shot on the iPhone 3GS to the social networking site.
It is hoped that the app, which has been submitted to Apple, will be available to download from the iTunes app store shortly.
Facebook for iPhone 3.0 benefits from a new home screen that reflects the design of the website. It also features 14 other new functions including the ability to create new photo albums, assign certain friend’s profiles as favorites and also continue writing messages through the social networking site, even if interrupted by a phone call or text message.
Joe Hewitt, Facebook’s iPhone software engineer, used his Twitter profile to announce that he’d uploaded the app.
“Everything that used to scroll slowly now scrolls like butter,” he said.
“3GS video uploading for the Facebook iPhone app is a go—didn’t plan to include it in the 3.0 update, but it was really easy to code.”
