Xerox has announced the latest addition to its Phaser color laser printer line, the 6140N. Aimed at small companies and workgroups, the Phaser 6140N features both USB 2.0 and 10/100 Base T Ethernet connections, as well as an optional wireless network adapter.
Priced at $399, the 6140N supports Adobe PostScript 3 and is based upon the same print engine as the Phaser 6130 it replaces.
Improvements to the 6140 include faster print speeds—it now prints at 16 pages per minute color and 21 pages per minute black, up from 12 and 19 pages per minute in the previous model. Also new to the 6140N are an optional $149 duplex accessory and an optional second paper tray with an additional 250-sheet capacity. The new printer features Xerox’s own Emulsion Aggregate High Gloss toner, which is chemically grown, not ground, allowing for smaller, more uniformly shaped toner particles which the company says helps the printer produce better fine line details.
The Xerox Phaser 6140 is available immediately.
