Lexmark has introduced three new laser printers targeted at small to midsize workgroups. All three offer 500-sheet input paper capacity, high-yield toner cartridges, and sub-$1,000 price tags.
Two color models—the X546dtn color laser MFP and C546dtn—claim up to 25-page per minute print speeds for both color and black and white print jobs. They feature automatic duplexing, 1200dpi print resolution, and quiet operating noise levels for the comfort of those working in close proximity to the units., The X546dtn and C546dtn cost $999 and $699, respectively.
They connect to your Mac via USB 2.0 or built-in 10/100 Ethernet and also have a PictBridge USB ports in the front. The X546dtn MFP adds fax, copy and scan capabilities with a 600-dpi resolution, legal sized scanner, and a 50-page automatic document feeder. Owners of a 540 series color laser are eligible to participate in Lexmark’s Toner Rewards program that can help save up to 20 percent of toner costs. Lexmark also guarantees that the cost of color toner will not go up for as long as you own your 540 series color laser.
The one new black-and-white model, the E462DTN, sells for $849. It boasts 40 pages per minute print speeds, a compact design, and replacement toner cartridges with yields up to 18,000 pages. It also connects via USB 2.0 or built-in 10/100 Ethernet.
