The DS210j has two drive bays, and using the browser-based DiskStation Manager 2.2 software, the drives can be configured as RAID 0, RAID 1, or as JBOD.
The DS210j also works with Synology’s iPhone apps, DS audio and DS photo, which are available for free through the iTunes Store. The DS audio app lets you stream music from the DS210j to your iPhone. The DS photo app lets you transfer photos on your iPhone to the DS210j for archiving.
If you have a DLNA device like a PlayStation3, you can use Synology’s Media Server to stream music or videos from the DS210j to the PS3, and then you can play the content on a TV.
The DS210j has an ethernet port for connecting to a network router. The device also has a pair of USB 2.0 ports.
The DS210j is available without any hard drive mechanisms for $229. Drives that are pre-configured with hard drive mechanisms are available through online retailers, distributors and resellers.
