MapQuest Navigator feels more like a business and resource finder that’s had navigation tools grafted on. It compares favorably to AT&T Navigator’s ability to parse Contacts addresses correctly, but lacks decent integration of traffic data, such as the ability to announce alerts and provide dynamic re-routing. GPS tracking against the map notably lags that of other apps.
The program’s key advantage is simplicity: there are few settings to change, and it’s easy to enter a destination and then optionally find nearby businesses. It’s a shame there’s no iPod control included, as that prevents it from being a reasonable alternative to MotionX for inexpensive apps.
