Sahil Lavingia is either brave or crazy. Or perhaps, a little bit of both. Lavingia, the iPhone developer behind Twizzle and Color Stream, is less than a week away from launching a project he’s calling One Week App.
No, it’s not a Barenaked Ladies tribute app. Instead, Lavingia is planning to build a brand new iPhone app, from the ground up, in full public view. Starting on February 7th, the One Week App site linked above will become a blog, where Lavingia says he’ll “be posting timelapses, screenshots, and other notes” as the app comes to fruition.
Well, if it comes to fruition. Lavingia acknowledges that while he might end up with an awesome new app, he could also fail to meet his deadline—which he hopes will add a modicum of suspense to the proceedings. No word yet on whether the app-to-come will be a game, a utility, or simply a virtual Steve Jobs spouting comparisons between the iPad and the perfect simplicity of a crashing wave—but regardless, One Week App could provide some interesting insight into the workflow behind coding iPhone apps.
