Our Verdict
The D22SL and D66 are members of Sony’s “Eggo” line — so named because of their egg-shaped earpieces. Designed for the Japanese market but available in the U.S. through a number of electronics importers, the futuristic-looking D22 and D66 come in several snazzy metallic finishes and are worth checking out if you’re looking for something to stand out from the crowd. Despite their aesthetic focus, both models sound pretty good — a rarity in the style-conscious market — once you get accustomed to their counterintuitive fit. (You have to fit your ears behind the cushions, rather than in front of them.) Both are also quite comfortable and fold into surprisingly small packages for travel. The D66 are slightly bigger and provide a bit more bass than the D22.–Dan Frakes
