The iPod fashionista’s dilemma: You want to protect your new iPod, but you don’t want to spoil it’s chic-white appearance. The answer: the iAlbea. As a case, the iAlbea is up there with the best leather flipcases we’ve reveiwed, with hand-stiched seams and excellent attention to detail. But as a fashion accessory it has a significant distinguishing characteristic: It’s hand-made out of high-quality, iPod-white Spanish leather. The front and back are heavily padded to protect your player, and a snap closure keeps the flipcover shut. (The flipcover also provides slots for credit cards and IDs.) The belt clip’s post can be removed when not in use, leaving a smooth, nub-free surface.
Our only minor criticism of the iAlbea — we don’t hold the fact that white leather is sure to show dirt and wear against it — is that the company has chosen to emboss its logo on the front of the case, “spoiling” the otherwise smooth and soft surface. But when you make product this nice, you probably want to stick your name on it.–Dan Frakes
