STM iPod mini cocoon

As the name implies, and like it’s bigger iPod cocoon brother, the purpose of Standard Technical Merchandise’s iPod mini cocoon is to provide a semi-rigid envelope of protection around your iPod. It’s not as crush-proof as the aluminum hardshells from Matias and RhinoSkin, but it can hold your iPod mini along with your earbuds and a couple ID/credit cards. In addition, unlike the standard cocoon, the mini version includes a silicone iPod mini skin with lanyard that’s designed to be used inside the cocoon but is nice enough to be used on its own in a pinch. If you’re looking for a hardshell case that provides some room for extras, the mini cocoon is the way to go.–Dan Frakes
