Our Verdict
The TrailVue is the full-size version of an iPod mini case we liked a lot when it was released last year. Like Pacific Design’s iPod mini Flip Case, the TrailVue provides both good protection and an attractive design. Made of ballistic nylon with rigid inserts to keep your iPod safe from bumps and bruises, the TrailVue is available in five dual-color combinations — one color for the main body and another for a stylish “racing stripe.” And unlike the Pacific Design case, which is retro-cool, Marware’s offering both looks and feels rugged and sporty — you won’t be afraid to knock it around, even with your iPod inside.
Inside the flipcover, your iPod is held securely in a sleeve made of a clear PVC front piece and ballistic nylon and elastic sides. The PVC protects your iPod’s screen and white surfaces; the Click Wheel remains accessible. The flip cover is secured via a Velcro flap, leaving only the headphone/remote jack exposed.
Like the TrailVue mini, the TrailVue also comes with one of our favorite features of all Marware cases: the Multidapt clip. This accessory mount on the back of the case can be used to connect a number of different accessories, from the included belt clip to dashboard mounts to bicycle handlebar mounts to lanyard attachments, and makes Marware cases some of the most versatile on the market. And when you’re not using the clip, it can be removed without leaving a bulky post behind. –Dan Frakes
