FM transmitter for dockable iPods
The new version of Griffin’s iTrip is impressive. It offers reasonable range in stereo mode and outstanding range when flipped into mono mode. Its controls are intuitive. The display is clear and readable. Its ability to take on frequencies outside the normal range in the U.S. will be a great help for those whose radios can take advantage of it. And I’m fascinated by the technology–however occasionally imperfect–that allows the new iTrip to automatically adjust volume. The iTrip’s range and sound quality don’t match Sonnet’s PodFreq, but then neither do its price or size. I’ve been pleased with Xtreme Mac’s AirPlay, but given the iTrip’s extra features, I’m even more impressed with it and am happy to award it a Playlist Pick. If you need a small portable FM transmitter priced for under $50, this is the ‘Trip to take.
