This thick rubberized case has an interesting removable hand strap across the back, so that it can be easily carried while jogging or walking. A hard plastic insert protects the back, and removable plastic covers protect the screen and clickwheel. Openings in the top and bottom provide access to all ports and the hold switch, and the clickwheel cover flips open for access or snaps shut for ultimate protection.
We had intended to review this case some time ago, but we were held up by the need to go back to school for the graduate degree in engineering required to get the case put together and insert our iPod. But once we figured it out, this quickly became one of our go-to cases for jogs in the park. We love the grippy rubber strap that wraps around the back of your hand, making it easy to hold you iPod in your palm while exercising. We’ve often found armbands uncomfortable, and apparently are not alone in this, as many joggers seem to prefer carrying an iPod in their palms to strapping it to their arms. If you are a “palmer,” odds are you will really like this alternative.
There are a few caveats, however. Getting the iPod in and out is a pain. Since it’s a bulky case, it doesn’t fit well in the pockets, we found that we only used it when we wanted to go running. The plastic screen protector also had a tendency to pop off, but despite these minor cons this is a great, unique case. –Mathew Honan
