Our Verdict
Speck’s Skin Tight Armband for iPod shuffle is a well-designed armband ideal for using your iPod shuffle while exercising. It stretches for comfort and fits most arms via a number of Velcro strips. A translucent silicone “skin” case is included as an added bonus; in fact, you need to use the skin for your shuffle to fit in the armband.
When placed in the skin, the entire surface of your iPod shuffle is covered with a pattern that replicates the shape of the controls; only the shuffle’s USB port, headphone port, and rear controls are left exposed. A cap for your shuffle’s USB port is not included, but the skin accommodates the original cap. Unfortunately, the skin’s headphone opening doesn’t accommodate fatter miniplugs. A plastic holster on the armband holds your skin-encased shuffle securely in place and, conveniently, secures excess headphone cable.
The Skin Tight Armband is a great armband with an excellent bonus skin.
Note: The original review unit we received wasn’t glued properly; Speck sent us a replacement unit which did not exhibit this problem. According to the company, the problem with our original unit was a production-related defect that is not present in current versions of the product. –Derik DeLong
