Griffin Technology’s iClear for the 5G iPod (with video) is a two-piece — front and back — case made of polycarbonate plastic. Two differently sized backs are included for use with the 30 and 60 GB models of the 5G iPod. The front piece is perfectly clear, whereas the back is frosted. (This frosting is likely to hide much of the scratching to which a clear plastic case is prone.)
Nearly the entire bottom of the case is open, making it easy to connect Apple’s dock cable. Holes on the top provide access to your iPod’s hold switch and headphone jack. Unfortunately, the headphone jack opening is too small for larger miniplugs.
The iClear is a very attractive case that prevents scratches to your iPod at a reasonable price. Although it provides few bells and whistles, it’s very protective and adds little bulk.–Derik DeLong
