Neoprene pouch for attaching the Nike+iPod Sport Kit sensor to non-Nike shoes.
If you’d like to use Nike’s new Nike+iPod Sport Kit, but you (or your feet) aren’t a fan of Nike shoes, Marware has the solution. The Sportsuit Sensor+ provides an elegant and protective enclosure for Sport Kit sensors that don’t have a Nike+iPod home. The Sensor+ slides easily under your shoelaces and fastens with Velcro, protecting your Sport Kit sensor for the, um, long run inside a tight, water-resistant, neoprene pouch. The pouch fits the sensor well, and it’s inexpensive enough so that buying a handful is affordable, giving you an easy way to share a single Sport Kit sensor among several people or several pairs of kicks.
No doubt there will soon be other vendors releasing similar accessories for the Sport Kit, but it’s difficult to imagine much improvement over the Sportsuit Sensor+. (We’d love to see a slightly larger version that provides an additional small pouch for a key or a few bucks, which would make this little product even more useful.) So if you prefer to run or walk in shoes not emblazoned with the Nike name (or price tag), get one (or two or three).
(Just as we were writing this review, Marware announced the Sportsuit Relay for iPod nano, a $30 version of the highly-rated Sportsuit Roundabout wristband case for the iPod mini; the Relay fits the iPod nano along with the Nike+iPod Sport Kit sensor, and also includes an extension for using the Relay around the upper arm.)–Jeff Merron
