The PodsPlus Silicone Skin for iPod video is much like other silicone “skin” cases — solid and nondescript. Your iPod is inserted through the screen opening, and other holes are provided for the headphone jack, hold switch, and dock-connector port. Your iPod’s Click Wheel is covered with a thinner layer of silicone that doesn’t impede use and feels smooth under your finger. The silicone itself is a good middle ground between thin and thick; it offers some protection against impact, but it’s not exceptionally tough, either.
A hard-plastic screen cover is included to protect your iPod’s screen; four small, rubber stubs adorn the corners to keep the screen protector from scratching your iPod. One side of the case features a pair of tiny holes to attach an included neck lanyard.
There are actually two versions of this case: one with a removable belt clip, and one without. The belt clip features a quick-release button that attaches to a removable metal peg on the back of the case.
PodsPlus’s Silicone Skin has no particular flaws. If you’re in the market for a “skin” case, it may be a good fit (no pun intended). However, keep in mind that by spending a bit more, you can get a thicker skin that offers more protection. –Derik DeLong
