Desktop publishing specialist Quark has announced the company has acquired the assets and technology of Gluon, the New Jersey-based software company that has developed tools for the corporate and publishing industries for over twenty years.
The acquisition includes Gluon’s HyperPublishing System suite of products which Quark said it will integrate the technology into its software to enable enterprise-scale Web-to-print, variable data printing (VDP), and advertising automation solutions.
As part of the acquisition, Quark also gains Gluon’s XTensions and plug-ins that promise to add efficiencies and capabilities to QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, and Adobe Illustrator.
The XTensions and plug-ins will continue to be developed by the Gluon team and remain available through the Gluon online store as well as distributors and resellers. Gluon’s employees will join Quark, the company added.
Last month, Quark announced a new promotional campaign, promising £450-plus worth of exclusive QuarkXPress 8 Flash resources.
The “Magic” campaign is built around a dedicated microsite that was developed in QuarkXPress 8 encompassing video training, downloadable Flash resources, customer showcases and more.
