Our Verdict
Inexpensive neoprene sleeve provides minimal protection.
No, the iPad is not a netbook, but that doesn’t mean you can’t cover your iPad with a netbook sleeve such as Kensington’s $10 Reversible Sleeve for Netbooks—indeed, Kensington advertises the Reversible Sleeve for Netbooks as an iPad accessory. This 10-inch, black-on-one-side, gray-on-the-other, neoprene sleeve provides a fairly thin layer of padding. As the sleeve is neoprene inside and out, there’s no fluffy, scratch-protective material on the “inside” as you find with some other sleeves, nor do you get any sort of rigid insert to protect your iPad’s screen. The sleeve provides a tight fit: your iPad is completely enveloped by the sleeve, but it takes some tugging to get it on. And if you plan to take advantage of the “reversibility,” you’ll want to cut off the two large-ish tags on the gray side. In short, while the Reversible Sleeve is inexpensive and should keep scratches away, there are better sleeves out there.
