Panasonic released the newest addition to its popular Lumix line of high-end compact cameras on Tuesday—the ultra-wide-lens-having, HD-video-shooting, Lumix DMC-FX75.
The new 14.1 megapixel camera sports a 24-150mm ultra-wide-angle f2.2-f5.9 lens with 5x optical zoom. The Leica DC Vario-Summicron lens’s maximum aperture of f2.2 will allow users to capture brighter, sharper photos in low light situations.
The camera can also record 720p HD video in the AVCHD (Advanced Video Coding High Definition) Lite format, even while the camera lens is zooming. Some minimal in-camera movie editing is allowed—the user can break a video clip into sections, delete sections entirely, and capture a still images from a movie.
Other features on the FX75 include a 3-inch touchscreen interface that controls most of the camera functions including setting Auto Focus. New modes include a Motion Deblur mode, Intelligent Zoom mode, and the optimistically-named Happy Mode, which increases the saturation and brightness of images in-camera. The camera will be available in black or gray.
Prices and release dates for the camera and lens have not been announced yet by Panasonic.
