The Feather will protect against scratches—but not much else.
Hand it to Incipio for truth in labeling: The Incipio iPad Feather Ultralight Hard Shell Case is indeed the lightest iPad shell we’ve seen. Which does make it one of the easiest shells to carry. The Feather is made of a super-lightweight plastic that’s still tough enough to prevent scratches to the iPad’s metal back. But the Feather is not what I’d call sturdy—it has a surprising amount of give to it—so it won’t stand up to harder knocks the way more substantial shells might. If all you’re looking for is scratch-protection, the Feather could be fine. If you want more protection, though, you’re better off with a sturdier shell such as the Speck CandyShell.
