Apple to open second flagship store in China on Saturday

Apple will open its second flagship store in China this Saturday, July 10, in the heart of Shanghai’s financial district, located near local landmark the Oriental Pearl Tower.

According to Shanghaiist, the new Shanghai Apple Store bears a striking resemblance to the flagship Fifth Avenue store in New York. The Website has posted numerous images of the store.

The store will be only the second outlet Apple has opened in China since the Mac manufacturer opened its first China store in Beijing in 2008. “This is the first of many stores we will open in China,” Ron Johnson, Apple’s senior vice president of retail said at the time, promising stores “in Beijing, in Shanghai and beyond.”

Apple has since announced plans to have 25 retail outlets in China by the end of 2011, disclosing those plans when it announced second-quarter earnings in April. “We are thrilled to open the first of many new stores in China in this incredible location,” Apple’s Johnson said this week.
