Apple on Thursday released an update to Mac OS X Server 10.6.4, adding Safari 5 and making general system fixes to the server version of its Snow Leopard operating system. In addition, Apple released Wiki Server Update 1.0, which is aimed at all servers running the 10.6.4 version of OS X Server.
Mac OS X Server v10.6.4 Update (v.1.1) arrives a month after Apple released the 10.6.4 version of Snow Leopard Server. According to Apple’s release notes, Thursday’s update improves the performance and reliability of looking up invitees in LDAP directory as well as the reliability of vacation notices. Several fixes target the Software Update Service to make updates appear more reliably in Server Admin and improve syncing with the Apple Software Update server. The update also contains improvements for OS X Server’s Wiki Service and improves the reliability of VPN connections. Apple also touts security improvements with the latest Snow Leopard Server update.
The update adds Safari 5 to Snow Leopard Server. Apple introduced the new version of its Web browser last month at its Worldwide Developers Conference.
Mac OS X Server v10.6.4 Update v.1.1 is available as a 615.34MB update or as a 1.05GB combo update from Apple’s Support Downloads site.
As for Thursday’s Wiki Server Update 1.0, the 26.34MB update promises general reliability improvements. It also offer fixes for authenticating users with high-bit characters in their full name, allowing access to wiki group calendars from the iCal client, and preventing wikis and blogs from become inaccessible after migrating from Leopard Server. In addition, the update fixes an issue that could prevent the Wiki service from rebuilding its index; it also allows users to access wikis using an alias and shows private blogs to the blog owner.
