Electronics vendor Logitech on Wednesday announced the Rechargeable Speaker S715i for iPhone and iPod, the successor to the company’s popular mm50 and Pure-Fi Anywhere portable speaker systems.
The $150 S715i features eight speaker drivers: each channel (left or right) gets a 0.5-inch tweeter, a 3-inch midrange driver, and dual 2-inch passive radiators. The S715i also sports an eight-hour, nickel-metal hydride (NiMH) rechargeable battery and a wireless remote that controls both the speaker system and your iPod or iPhone. The S715i’s cradle supports recent iPod and iPhone models without requiring dock inserts or adapters. A 3.5mm auxiliary-input jack lets you use older iPods and other audio sources.
Designed for portable use, the S715i weighs 24 ounces and is 15.2 inches wide, 5.2 inches tall, and 2.4 inches thick. The system includes a soft travel case.
The Rechargeable Speaker S715i will begin shipping this month.
