You already have an iPhone (obviously) but you don’t want to carry it around while jogging around campus. So pick up an iPod shuffle (or two) and you can load some tunes onto the tiny shuffle and slip it in your pocket. And if it accidentally makes it into the wash, that’s why you’ve got a spare.

The 23-inch Razor LED LCD HDTV from Vizio is, well, a razor-thin 1080p HDTV that also doubles as a monitor for your computer. So whether you’re hooking up a gaming system, watching TV using the cable connection in your dorm, or sharing content from your laptop for movie night, this combo unit won’t take up much room but gives you the extra screen you need.

Logitech’s $400 Z-5500 Digital 5.1 Speaker System is a monster, with 500 watts of THX-certified power and a room-shaking subwoofer. Its support for DTS, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Pro Logic makes it perfect for home-theater use. And its multiple digital and analog inputs, wireless remote, and impressive sound quality make it a legitimate choice for a main stereo system.

Offered as a set of premium, full-size headphones for mobile listening, the $300 P5 is pricey, but it’s an impressive product that’s worth a look if your wallet can handle it.

First, it offers access to more shows and to complete series libraries for programs like The X-Files, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Office, The A-Team, Heroes, and others. Second, you can watch many shows in HD on devices such as the iPad, Macs, and connected TVs. Hulu Plus doesn’t get you out of having to watch commercials, however, and it’s still in a preview mode so you’ll need to request an invite—but you’ve got connections, right?

iPods, iPhones, and Macs are all well and good, but let’s face it—you just need an iPad. The screen is much bigger than an iPhone, but it’s much lighter and easy to carry than a MacBook Pro, which makes it perfect for watching movies in bed or anywhere else.
