Freeway 5.5 get new gallery, template, and site tools

Mac users, Web developers, and designers have it pretty good when it comes to tools for building Websites. Their options just got better on Monday too, as Softpress released major upgrades to
Freeway Express and Freeway Pro, its Web design and development suites.
Freeway Express and Pro aren’t quite your father’s iWeb (OK, fine, your father didn’t have iWeb growing up—just go with it); instead, they’re taking on the likes of RapidWeaver, Coda, and Dreamweaver, with lots of drag-and-drop features but also flexible CSS layout tools, pre-built templates, support for mobile devices like the iPhone and iPad, advanced control over HTML output, and other perks.
Version 5.5 of both Freeway Express and Pro bring a wide variety of new features—so many, in fact, that Softpress made these paid upgrades. Both versions now include a Freeway Showcase for creating feature-rich photo galleries and slideshows; search engine sitemaps for Yahoo and Google; Amazon sales affiliation; and a “host” of new and improved templates. The Pro version also gains relative page layout options (dynamic CSS layouts that adjust when pages have content added or removed) and site search tools that work even if a Website is hosted on MobileMe.
Freeway Express and Pro require Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard or later. Full licenses cost $69 and $229, respectively, while these updates cost $25 and $49, respectively, for existing version 5 owners. If you purchased either version on or after June 1, 2010, version 5.5 is a free upgrade. Discounts are available to qualified education, senior, and non-profit users, and organizations seeking multi-seat licenses should get in touch with Softpress’s sales folks.
