Case-Mate Venture for iPad

Case-Mate’s $90 Venture is a very lightweight iPad case with a black, faux-leather exterior sporting a striking set of neon-green highlights. A snap secures the case closed, though I found that when using the case, the snap sits right where my hands usually hold the iPad.

That said, the Venture is cleverly designed. Undo two inside snaps and the binding of the case opens into a kickstand, allowing you to prop up your iPad in landscape mode for viewing or working.

To insert an iPad into the Venture, you open a Velcro flap, then slide the iPad in until it’s completely inside the faux-leather frame. All the cases that frame the iPad in this way feel a little bit claustrophobic, but with the Venture, Case-Mate has taken care to make sure all the iPad’s ports and buttons are accessible.

If you’re looking for a case with real leather styling, the Venture won’t do the trick. But it’s still a handsome, striking case, and its best feature is that it adds very little weight to your iPad while providing protection and a display stand.
