Michigan-based Hand-e-holder has launched a line of products designed to ensure that your iPad will never fall out of your hand at the least opportune moment.
The Hand-e-holder is a simple device that consists of two parts: an adhesive disk applied to the back of your iPad, and a strap that looks vaguely like a biking glove and fits snuggly around your hand. You can then attach the disk to the holder and securely carry the iPad around with a single hand, without any worry about it slipping out of your fingers when you’re not paying attention.
And that’s not all: the glove-like holder includes a swivel head that lets you turn the iPad to the most convenient orientation without having to take it off the mount, all the while maintaining its snug fit on your hand.
Hand-e-holder envisions a number of different uses for its accessory, including applications in the medical field, at a mechanic’s shop or pretty much any other scenario in which having a free hand is useful. As such, the company has built an entire line of companion articles around their flagship product; this includes an adaptor plate for wall mounting and several stands for a variety of uses.
The basic Hand-e-holder system, which is available directly from the manufacturer’s Website, costs $40. The company envisions a number of different uses for its flagship product, including applications in the medical field, at a mechanic’s shop, or any other scenario in which having a free hand is useful. This is reflected in a rich line of accessories that are available to complement the basic glove-and-ring combination.
The majority of these fall in the stand category, as the Hand-e-holder is designed to make it convenient to place your iPad aside when you need both hands, while still being able to quickly pick it up later with one hand. For flat surfaces, the company offers a simple one-piece stand made of transparent plastic ($50), a teardrop stand with a stylish circular base ($40), a rectangular stand with an adjustable head ($46), and a tripod stand ($40). If horizontal space comes at a premium, you can also opt for a spring clamp holder ($40) or one of two C-clamp holders with the capability to hold on to objects of varying thicknesses ($40 each).
Rounding up the accessory line are extra dual-lock rings ($6 each), which are handy if you need to use the same glove with multiple iPads, and a leg strap kit, which allows you to attach the iPad to your leg (which, as any private pilot will be able to tell you, is a godsend in the cramped cockpit of a general-aviation plane).
