Though there are still plenty of questions about the intricacies of Apple’s impending Mac App Store, developers are already gearing up for it. And how can they not? On Wednesday Apple CEO Steve Jobs said the store would be launched within 90 days, and we surveyed developers to see who is already planning to stock the Mac App Store’s shelves.
Among the larger shops to announce ambitions for the Mac App Store are Realmac Software and The Omni Group. In a blog post, Realmac declares that “we’d be crazy to not be there,” saying that all of its apps ( RapidWeaver, LittleSnapper, Socialite, and Courier) will be submitted to the store. Omni Group CEO Ken Case also announced on his company’s blog that all of its apps— OmniFocus, OmniGraffle, OmniGraphSketcher, and OmniOutliner—will be submitted as well.
Obvious Matter says DiskLibrary is bound for the Mac App Store, as are Second Gear’s Today and Check Off, Helium Foot Software’s MercuryMover, and Fading Red’s Koku, though developer Brittany Tarvin confirmed to Macworld that Senuti, Fading Red’s popular iTunes recovery tool, probably won’t pass Apple’s guidelines. Feral Interactive also told Macworld that it plans to submit some of its games to the store.
Of course, this is just a quick sample of a handful of developers who answered our calls on a Friday morning. But with developers big and small hopping on board already, the Mac App Store may be well stocked once Apple opens its doors.
